Field Work

Ongoing field research conducted directly on the Giza Plateau, focused on structural observation, architectural analysis, and documentation of anomalies within complex archaeological contexts.

The work is based on direct, non-invasive observation and aims to identify architectural constraints, discontinuities, and contextual patterns often overlooked in conventional interpretations.

Egyptian Heritage Research Foundation

INTRO
An independent initiative aimed at establishing an Egypt-based foundation dedicated to the research, documentation, and preservation of archaeological heritage through non-invasive methodologies. This project marks the transition from individual research to a structured, institutional framework.

CURRENT STATUS
The Foundation is currently in its preparatory phase and is not yet legally registered. All activities at this stage are conducted as part of a personal initiative led by Dr. Armando Mei, with the objective of establishing a formal cultural foundation in Egypt.

OBJECTIVE
Pilot field documentation projects in Egypt, including the Giza Plateau. The goal is to create a foundation capable of operating with:
  • Scientific rigor
  • Field-based documentation
  • Institutional collaboration
  • Long-term research continuity
SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES
The future Foundation will focus on:
  • Archaeological documentation through non-invasive methods
  • Structural and morphological analysis of historical sites
  • Publication of research (open-access and institutional)
  • Educational and outreach activities
  • Collaboration with Egyptian and international institutions
CURRENT RESEARCH DIRECTIONS
The initiative is currently structured along two primary research lines, both developed through direct field observation and aligned with a strictly non-invasive methodological framework.

WEST GIZA PLATEAU – FIELD DOCUMENTATION AND STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS
Ongoing fieldwork focuses on the western sector of the Giza Plateau, with particular attention to morphological features, surface discontinuities, and architectural interfaces that may indicate the presence of underlying structures or previously uncharacterized elements.
The work is based on direct observation, photographic documentation, and comparative analysis with existing archaeological records, with the objective of identifying coherent patterns requiring further investigation. These observations remain strictly within a non-invasive and evidence-based analytical framework.

HAWARA PYRAMID – PRELIMINARY SUBSURFACE ASSESSMENT
A second research line concerns the Pyramid of Hawara, currently affected by significant water infiltration that prevents access to its internal structures.
The initiative aims to define a preliminary, non-invasive assessment framework focused on the analysis of subsurface conditions and the identification of the main factors contributing to the current state of the monument.
The objective is to establish a structured basis for future monitoring and preservation-oriented interventions.

INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK
All activities are conceived to be conducted under the guidance and supervision of the Egyptian Authorities, in full respect of local regulations and within the scope of non-invasive research methodologies.
The initiative does not operate independently of institutional frameworks, but is instead structured with the objective of aligning with national priorities and contributing to the preservation and understanding of Egypt’s archaeological heritage.
All activities at this stage are conducted as part of an independent initiative.

A unique opportunity to support the creation of an independent archaeological research structure in Egypt — built from the field, grounded in evidence, and aligned with institutional frameworks.
You are not supporting a project — you are helping build the foundation of a long-term archaeological research structure in Egypt.

SUPPORT THE CREATION OF A REAL RESEARCH STRUCTURE
This is not a generic fundraising campaign.
This initiative represents the early-stage development of an independent, field-based archaeological research project in Egypt — grounded in direct observation and structural analysis.
A rare phase in which external support does not simply fund activities, but directly contributes to shaping the structure itself.

WHAT YOUR CONTRIBUTION SUPPORTS
Your support contributes to:

• Field documentation and on-site observation
• Structural and morphological analysis
• Development of the institutional framework
• Legal establishment process in Egypt

KEY NOTE
You are not funding a single project.
You are contributing to the creation of a long-term research structure.

  • Legal establishment progress
  • Structural development
  • Use of funds

FINAL NOTE
This initiative is not intended to fund a single project, but to establish a long-term research structure based in Egypt.
A framework designed to operate with scientific rigor, transparency, and continuity over time.
